1) Introduction to RPG Inferno
RPG Inferno is a JavaScript based game created ZeroTolerance. KHInsider did not make this RPG, it is simply licensed out to them (the administrators bought the right to use it). It is basically a “text” based game, in which your stats determine how much damage you deal and such. There is no moving of a character (at least not currently) or pressing a keyboard key to attack. RPG Inferno is not a 2D game, it is simply a click and type game. The version currently installed on these forums is RPG Inferno 2.4. RPG Inferno 3.0 is currently being developed by ZeroTolerance, Decado, and other parts of his staff. 3.0 is said to be released within only a few months.
2) Basic Knowledge & Getting started
I) RPG Menu
A brief overview of all the areas in the RPG. I am well aware that there are small explanations in each section of the RPG, but you will find my FAQ to include much more of an explanation.
Note: Locations with a * next to them are key places to visit before you start actually battling.
RPG CP*
If you are new to the RPG, this is the first place to go (and the default place). Using the RPG CP you create your actual character. You decide things such as your name, special attack, and alignment. Its basically were you decide the general info on your character.
Beginner tip: You MUST fill this out first before continuing into the RPG.
Item Shop*
One of the most important aspects of the RPG. This is where you can buy weapons, armor, accessories or things from whatever categories are added. When choosing an item be aware of the stats it gives you and the requirements you must have. You can not buy any item, just those that pertain to your class. Stats and amount the item costs is shown next to the name, but for an in-depth description you can scan the item.
Beginner tip: Generally you start out with a small amount of money. I recomend buying whatever you are able to right from the start. Make sure to save some for healing though.
Bank
Here you can deposit your gill (the currency in this game) and collect interest. You must leave your gill in the bank for 24 hours in order to collect interest. You can also borrow a sum of money from the bank, with interest you will have to pay back of course.
Healing Center*
Here you buy items in order to heal your HP. You can also combine 2 items to reach a certain effect. You can also carry these items into battle with you, which is commonly done.
Beginner tip: You should always bring potions along to help you in battle.
Hospital
Also used for healing, the hospital heals you to the exact amount desired. You input how much HP or MP you need and you are healed accordingly, for a price.
Donate
Simply put, you donate items or gill to members by putting their forum names.
Equip Items*
Any items you bought are equipped here. If your item has a synthesis upgrade you will not lose this upgrade even if you un-equip the item (which was rumored before).
Beginner tip: Items you buy at the item shop don't automatically take effect. You must first make sure to equip them first.
Synthesis Shop
Synthesis are upgrades you buy for an item. These upgrades are permanently attached to the item chosen and increase stats, unless you remove them at the shop. You can not shift an upgrade from one item to another; you buy the synthesis for that item and that item alone.
Manage Summon *
Summons are allies you can call upon during battle. Usually assigned to specific classes, summons can not be used unless you meet the requirements. When you call a summon in battle, you character is removed from the battle and replaced by your summon. A summon acts identically like a character, losing HP and gaining levels. To heal a summon you must use items from the item shop.
Beginner tip: If your class allows and you meet the requirments, make sure you get your summon. They can help you out tremendously.
Battle Ground
THE most important part of the RPG. Here you can make a battle against a fellow forum member or more commonly against a bot. When you defeat a bot, you gain levels and gill. The amount of experience you get from a bot depends on the damage that is done to YOU and the comparison of your level to the bots. Basically, the more levels you gain, the stronger the bot you will have to fight in order to gain more experience. For an in-depth explanation of a bot battle please refer to my “Bot Battles” subsection.
Clans
Here you can make a clan or join one. To make a clan you will have to pay, usually not that large of an amount. You can choose a name and a logo for your clan. From there, if you are the creator of the clan, you can send out invitations to other forum member to join your clan. You can only join a clan if you are invited by its leader. A common event in RPG Inferno is to have clan battles.
Store
Here you would normally use gill obtained to buy special things. Such as permanent stat increase for summons, forum name color change, or just “trophy” items to show off to people.
Job*
Second only to the RPG CP, this is the first other place you should visit when starting out. Here you can choose jobs. Jobs provide a permanent stat increase for your character. When you reach a certain level and meet all requirements, you can “evolve” into another job, providing another stat increase. Jobs decide the items you can use and generally outline what stats you will excel and come up short with.
Beginner tip: Make obsolutely sure you pick a job first. Also, be sure you are willing to stick to that job because job change is NOT available. Stick with it or suffer a reset.
Lottery
Self explanatory. Here you can buy a ticket for a lottery which will award certain amount of gill.
Spells Shop*
Spells are a second type of offensive move. Only certain jobs can use spells. In order to learn a spell you must buy it and in order to use a spell you must use MP. It is important to take note that SPELLS NEVER MISS, no matter what the persons defense or evasion is. Also, unlike physical attacks, the strength of a spell depends on how much MP you have NOT your strength. Makes sense, no? Also, and one of the reason I wrote this fact so pay attention, spells strength also depends on how much of your max MP you have. I have heard many a time people complaining that their spells are weak, and that higher level spells are weaker than lower level spells, this is not the case. Your spell strength drops dramatically when you do not have full MP. The reason no one noticed this earlier was that the first spell only took away a very small amount of MP, so when using low level spell multiple times their attack did not drop to any extreme extent. But now that people have higher level spells, with much more MP cost, these drops in attack power become much noticeable. So my tip is, if you are going to use a spell more than once, make sure that each time you have 100% of your max MP.
Beginner tip: If your job allows and you meet the requirments, its a good idea to get a spell early on. Then can really help.
Auction
Here you can auction off your items if you don’t need them anymore. When making an auction, you decide the starting price of the bids. You can end an auction whenever you want, even if there have been no bids. Also, the one who bids the most is not always the winner. The one who starts the auction is the one who decides who get the item. Also note, in order to make an auction you must add a synthesis upgrade to the item. This often times makes it better to donate an item and depend on the person to send you the money.
Triple Triad
A kind of mini-game that companies RPG Inferno. I will not explain how to play it here since the Triple Triad comes with a tutorial already. You can make a battle against a bot or a forum member. When you win a battle against a bot, you get a small amount of gill as a reward. If you lose a battle against a bot there is nothing taken from you. However, if you lose a battle with a human player, your opponent is given the opportunity to take a card of yours and vice-versa.
Skill Points
You get these by leveling up your character. Whenever you level up, you will always gain the same amount of skill points (amount decided by RPG administrators). You can then use these to permanently increase your stats, using one skill point each time to increase a particular stat.
RPG Help
Well, this is empty, not sure how this was supposed to work but there is never anything in here. Which is partly why I am making this FAQ.
RPG Statistics
Used to view the statistics of all the RPG players in certain areas (who are the strongest and such).
RPG Member List
A list of ALL the people who have ever made an RPG account. This original list that appears is a list of forum member, organized by pages from the first player to the last. In essence, if you just made an account, your all the way on the last page. Also note, that if you search through the letters on the top, the list will no longer be organized in forum names. They will be replaced by alphabetical order of RPG names. If you are looking for a forum members RPG name, it can be a pain because you will have to look through the 99+ pages on the original page.
Member Search
This may be misleading to some, but this is not to search for forums names. Again, this is used to search for a forum member through their RPG name. This only provides more options than looking through the Member List.
Scan Yourself
See your stats, items, name, etc. Practically everything you have or are.
II) Bot Battles
First, let me explain the layout of the battle screen. Your stats our displayed at the top of the screen while your opponents on the bottom. Attack type is the type of attacks you can launch. You can attack with fists, weapons, spells, and rage. You can defend with your armor as well. During your battle you can call your summon which replaces your character. When your summon dies you are then switched back to your character. You can also surrender a battle so you will not die.
A) Stat Explanations
HP (Health Points)
Your HP is your most important stat. When it reaches zero your character dies and you lose the battle. When you feel your HP is low you can recover your health using healing items or spells. In order to lower HP you must attack offensively using physical attacks or spells.
MP (Magic Power)
The most important stat for magic users, MP serves two purposes. The first purpose is obvious; in order to launch a spell you must have enough MP to cast it. As you use magic attacks your MP is slowly drained depending on how much MP the attack uses. If you try to launch a spell when your MP is exhausted and does not meet the quota, you will encounter an error screen and be sent back to make a different attack. The second purpose for MP, and the one very few people know about, is that MP decides how much damage you do with spells. Many people follow the misconception that a magic spell only depends on the base stat given to that spell and that eventually that spell will become weaker against higher level bots and become useless. They are WRONG! Spells never become weaker, only stronger. I can use the weakest spell available on the highest level bot and do surprising damage. This is because your MAX MP decides how strong your spell attack is. Thus the more you increase you MP, the stronger your spells become. Also, people believe that stronger spells are weaker than lower level spells. They complain that this is a “bug”. But that is also wrong. this is because the amount of MP you have out of your MAX MP effects your spell strength.
Strength
This stat determines how much damage you do with physical attacks. The more of this you have the more damage you will do on your opponent. However, strength has a counter known as defense. No matter how high you strength is, if you opponent has a defense to match, it is going to be hard for you to damage them effectively. A second counter to strength is evasiveness. If evasiveness is high enough compared to strength, physical attacks will miss.
Defense
This stat is the counter measure to strength. When this stat is high it takes a major amount of strength to overcome it. When defense is high enough compared to the opponents strength then the attack will do zero damage. Defense however, is NOT a counter measure to spells.
Evasion
This stat determines the chances of dodging an opponent’s physical attacks. When evasion is significantly higher than your opponent’s strength then the attack will miss. In order to overcome evasion you need a high enough strength.
Vitality
This stat is a counter measure to spells. When this stat is high enough, it takes a major amount of spell strength to overcome it. I have not been able to verify if the "Vitality is to high so you do 0 damage" message exists just like with defense.
Rage
Rage is one of the attacks types. In order to use rage you must have full rage (100%). You gain rage by physically attacking your opponent, whether it does damage or not. Once it is full you can use rage, which does more damage than a regular physical attack. The amount of damage rage does is said to be 150% the amount of damage you would normally do.
Special
Your special attack is your final attack type. In order to use your special you must have 10% of your hp or lower. The amount of damage a special does is said to be two times your strength, minus your opponent’s defense.
3) Frequently Asked Questions
A listing of all the frequently asked questions I have seen. Please refer here before posting questions.
Q. Every time I try to collect my salary I don’t get the gill?
A. Decado has verified this as being "Possibly something to do with the way the RPG admins have configured it" to being the problem.
Q. Why is there not any summons?
A. The RPG administrators have not put in summons. Whether they will or will not put them in, I don’t know.
Q. I can’t get into the RPG, it says my user group is not allowed.
A. This means the RPG administrators have temporarily turned that section of the RPG or the whole RPG offline. This is usually done when they need to work on something.
Q. Why are the higher level spells so weak?
A. Please refer to the Stat Explanation >> MP section for the answer.
Q. How does rage work? Specials?
A. Please refer to the Stat Explanation >> Rage/Special section for the answer.
Q. Do you lose upgrades if you un-equip an item and can shift an upgrade from one item to another?
A. You do NOT lose your upgrade if you un-equip the item, common misconception. And no, you can not shift an upgrade.
Q. How can I change my job?
A. You can not, job changing causes to many bugs. If you want to change jobs you will need a reset, PM and RPG administrator about that.
Q. How do I leave the clan I made?
A. PM a RPG administrator to delete it / give control of it to someone else.
I hope I answered any of your questions. If you feel I missed anything/something is in error, PM me or post here. If you have any further questions please post here.
